Scholar Skills or as you may know them “Soft Skills” are non-cognitive or non-academic skills essential for lifelong success. Countless studies have shown that it’s just not enough to be highly proficient in Reading, Writing and Arithmetic without developing the softer, interpersonal and relationship-building skills that will help your child to communicate and collaborate effectively. Soft skills are increasingly becoming the hard skills of tomorrow as skills like social emotional skills, critical thinking skills, and skills that facilitate positive interactions with others and the ability to overcome challenges are becoming more and more essential for any future destination or present-day success. Fostering problem-solving skills, teamwork and critical thinking skills also provides an opportunity for students to be successful in new areas, therefore having the potential to boost their confidence and ability to connect new academic concepts and skills. THE B.E.E. KID’S BOX teaches “hard-hitting” soft skills that make a real difference in school and in life. Our award-winning approach is based on sound research that shows that not only should every adult learn these skills, but every child can and should learn non-academic skills such as perseverance, organization, time management, communication and self-control to pave the way for lifelong success. Each box comes complete with a Scholar Skills Summary that details the specific skill focus for the box, a Scholar Skills Quiz to help your child assess and understand their current thinking around the concept, a new Scholar Skills card to place in their lanyard to encourage others to engage them and share their newfound understanding of the skill, and a helpful parent guide that details ways for you to support the acquisition and application of the skill at home.
